Additional Learning Needs Support for Swansea Families

Does your child have Additional Learning Needs (ALN) — and do you feel like nobody's told you what you're actually entitled to? You're not alone, and you're not without rights. Under Welsh law, every child with ALN has a legal right to the support they need to thrive — but for too many families in Swansea, that right exists only on paper.

Adenydd's Mind the GAAP (Gaining Access to ALN Provision) project is here to change that.

What Is Mind the GAAP?

Mind the GAAP (Gaining Access to ALN Provision) is a free Adenydd project helping Swansea families understand and access their child's legal right to Additional Learning Needs (ALN) support.

Too many parents are never told what they're entitled to. Through drop-in sessions, bilingual resources, and one-to-one guidance, we give families the knowledge and confidence to advocate for their child.

Who Can Access Support?

Open to any parent or carer in Swansea supporting a child with additional learning needs — no referral, no cost.

Monthly drop-in sessions in:

  • Waun Wen
  • Plasmarl
  • Craigfelen

Just come along and see.

ALN Toolkit

Produced by the Welsh Government, this free ALN Toolkit is designed for parents and carers of children with additional learning needs. It explains the assessment process, your child's legal rights, and how to put the right support in place — written in plain language, with no jargon and no gatekeeping.

Whether you're just starting to navigate the system or fighting for changes to an existing plan, this is a resource worth keeping close to hand.
