All About the CEA Card

A quick reference guide for the CEA card application form.

What is the CEA Card?

The CEA Card is a photo ID card which allows the Cardholder to be accompanied by someone, free of charge, when they purchase the applicable full price ticket to visit a participating cinema with that person. The card lasts for 1 year.

What does it cost?

There is a £6.50 fee per card, to cover the costs of running the CEA Card scheme.

Can children with Additional Learning Needs get one?

Yes - children aged 5 and older are eligible. A parent or guardian must apply on their behalf.

This card covers conditions such as:

Dyslexia
Autism
Sensory Challenges
ADHD
Learning disabilities.

The key requirement is that your child needs support to attend the cinema (e.g. supervision, help understanding sensory difficulties, etc.)

You will need:

Proof of Eligibility

You must upload one of the accepted proofs of eligibility.

You can use any of the following in your application:

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) award letter
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Attendance Allowance
Armed Forces Independence Payment
Blind or partially sighted registration

Note: for children with Additional Learning Needs, DLA is the most common and accepted proof.

A Photo

You will need to provide a passport-style photo of your child, which will be uploaded during the application.

You can still apply

If you don't have a Disability Living Allowance (DLA) award letter yet, you can still apply for the CEA Card. They may consider:

Medical letters
Professional evidence
Explanation of needs

The following documents will not be accepted on their own, but they may be accepted with additional documents as professional evidence or an explanation of needs:

School IDP/ALN plan
GP letters alone
Blue Badge
Universal Credit
